This is an interview held by the Taiwan Film Festival of Australia 2021 prior to the screening of Butterflies at the festival. It’s a conversation with the the Festival organiser Benson Wu, where I explain the experience of shooting such a controversial film like Butterflies in Taiwan. I also recall my impressions about the Taiwanese film industry and how is the situation of filmmakers in Taiwan. We spoke openly and without fearing for my opinions, and that says it all about how freedom of speech is respected in Taiwan, in contrast of other Asian countries where artists don’t dare pointing out the problems of the film industry, There is much to improve in Taiwan but I am grateful to have come to such a place where I can freely develop my career as an artist.
